Why STILL HERE exists

G'day, I'm Steve — the founder of STILL HERE.

My own journey with mental health has taught me that life can throw challenges at us that are hard to put into words. It's also shown me that sometimes, simply having someone who cares can make all the difference.

That's why STILL HERE exists: to get conversations started between mates, to encourage people to have a yarn with their mob, and to remind everyone that it's okay to speak up, check in on each other and reach out for help when life gets tough. A simple conversation, a listening ear, or knowing that someone genuinely cares can change everything.

My mission is to build something grounded in compassion, understanding and genuine care — a place where people feel heard, supported and reminded that their story matters. I don't have all the answers, but I'll do everything I can to help others through the hard days, and to celebrate the little wins along the way.

And there's a reason I'm still going, and still here. Two of them, actually — my beautiful kids, Daisy and Noah. You two are my reason, my strength and my hope. On the hardest days, it was thinking of you that kept me moving forward. Everything I build, I build with you in my heart. I love you both, always.

I also owe a huge thank you to a very special woman — the woman who saved my life. When I couldn't see a way through, you were there. You listened, you cared, and you didn't give up on me. I wouldn't be here without you, and STILL HERE wouldn't exist without you either. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
